Landfill: disposal as a last option

Storing waste (or putting it into a landfill) is not ideal. But if reuse, recycling and incineration (with energy recovery) of specific waste streams do not appear to be possible, there is only one option left: the conditioned storage of waste in a landfill site.

Indaver has environmentally safe management and processing solutions for asbestos treatment.

Indaver makes sure that disposal is carried out safely and that space is used efficiently and sustainably. The waste in our landfills is also a link in our waste-to-energy chain, as we recover methane, with which we can generate energy. At Stainkoeln we use this energy at our wastewater treatment plant.

Waste-water treatment

Industrial processes generate wastewater. By wastewater, we talk about contaminated water as a result from industrial processes or water released during calamities or incidents. In all cases, it is wastewater that should not end up in our surface water.

Discharged in an environmentally sound way

The discharge of wastewater may never damage the environment. Indaver is your partner in finding an appropriate solution.

We can accept and dispose of the various types of wastewater both in bulk and in smaller containers. We process this waste so thoroughly in our purification facilities at our own processing locations that, after purification, the wastewater can be discharged into municipal water treatment.

Indaver Mineraal

Indaver’s ambition is to supply mineral secondary raw materials within the circular economy. We take on a mediating role for our customers, between supply and demand for soil, sludge, rubble and other reusable construction materials. With our knowledge, expansive network and independent position, we can do this most efficiently and effectively.

Indaver Mineraal works primarily with slightly contaminated soil and dredged materials. Before the (purified) mineral raw material can be reused, it undergoes a quality test according to the most recent legislation, which sets quality limits and uses options. Indaver has a wide range of technologies to clean or immobilise mineral residual streams. If cleaning isn’t an option, sustainable storage at Stainkoeln offers a ‘safe sink’ solution.

Indaver Vagroen: Treatment of green waste

In the Netherlands and Belgium, Indaver processes organic residual streams such as greenwaste into high-quality compost, among other things. With compost of good quality, we return natural nutrients to the soil and close this loop.

We sort the green waste to assign it to the right purpose: composting or biomass. We make the material we can compost smaller, and then store it in rows. We turn the material regularly to add oxygen and activate bacteria. After about 6 weeks, the raw compost is ready. We clean it of bits of plastic and stones. Then we sift it into fine compost and coarse compost.

Indaver produces compost of varied quality, tailored to multiple specialised uses. Our wood chips are intended as a fuel for generating green electricity in biomass stations.
